1) How do I receive 2hip4tv.com programs?
Our programs come to you over your internet connection and through your computer or STB (set top box) in place of the tuner in your TV set, cable box or satellite receiver. Just type "2hip4tv" in your browser to go to our station site
2) Do I require DSL or would a dial-up connection suffice?
A dial up connection, even at its fastest speed, would not normally be sufficient. A DSL, cable modem or other broadband connection is required due to the amount of graphics and video streaming content. The faster the speed, the smoother the TV shows will appear.
3) Can I copy a show onto a tape, hard drive recorder or disc and watch it later?
No, the content is not downloadable. Time-shifting shows isn't required because you can select any show at any time within the weekly schedule and view it immediately. You may go to our "Archive" section and view any of our programming from the past week.
4) How do I watch the programs?
You can watch the shows on any computer monitor or preferably on a large screen flat panel or LCD TV. Accessories are available to allow you to watch on an older TV as well. Go to our "Technical Assistance" link for specific details of wiring and hook-up.
5) Cable and satellite TV can cost a lot of money. How much does the 2hip4tv.com service cost?
We do not charge for our service if you watch our programming in its native time slot. It's totally free - just like regular TV. You will need to pay for your internet connection, though. We don't get any of that money. We are largely funded by our advertisers and sponsors. A small charge (literally 10 - 25 cents per show view) may be required in the future for VOD (Video On Demand) Special Programming because of the high cost to bring you those shows. For right now, everything is free of charge.
6) Are your programs in High Definition?
While the majority of our shows are recorded in high definition, we are currently broadcasting only in digital standard definition. That will be change as more people's computers can handle HD material and the technology becomes more accessible. You may need some new software depending on your computer and platform, and the cabling to attach it. Please see Q4 above.
7) How are you different from any other TV stations?
Firstly, our station doesn't appear on your regular broadcast, channel or cable line-up. We are internet distributed only. The primary difference, besides delivery, is our content. Our shows are so unique and generally a bit too off-beat for traditional broadcasters (and cable stations). We are not an over-the-air broadcaster or satellited broadcaster in the traditional sense. We operate under the model for IPTV stations of the future as industry experts have predicted it. We're just getting there very early in the game.
8) Are your programs in stereo?
Almost every show we offer is sent out as true stereo (two separate channels of audio) though any particular show may have only a monophonic soundtrack. This should not effect the viewing experience. Some of the shows offer 5.1 Dolby stereo surround sound. Just hook up your home stereo system and enjoy full range sound with better than CD quality.
9) Do you have live TV shows?
Many of our shows are taped live for broadcast later in the day, such as "2hipNews". We will be bringing on actual live-to-the-internet shows as our producers can develop them, and as the technology allows.
10) Do you carry adult programming?
WWe are developing some late-night programming intended for adult viewing in the same way as would be found on other stations. We do not carry any shows deemed pornographic, overly violent or overly explicit. Nothing harder than, say, "The Soprano's". Though we are not governed by the FCC, we voluntarily subscribe to the Broadcaster's Code of Ethic's and Television Ratings System, whose ratings are shown at the beginning of all shows, at the half-hour mark and in our broadcast schedules.
11) Can I still watch my cable or satellite shows?
Yes. You may continue your cable or satellite subscription if you like. To view 2hip4tv.com on your existing TV set (given it has the correct connections available) simply a change in the "input" on the TV set or you may require a simple switch. Usually you may select from either our IPTV feed or cable/satellite from your TV's remote control (input a, input b, etc.).
12) I can select different cable and TV channels from my remote control. Can I use a remote control with your service?
Yes you can. You will need a wireless keyboard and/or a wireless mouse (which are commonly available). You can select 2hip4tv.com content by clicking the buttons that appear throughout the site, in the same way as any other site
13) Can I go to and view other web sites?
Yes, one of the benefits of your hook-up connection to 2hip4tv.com is the ability to view any other web site such as Goggle, AOL and others. Only 2hip4tv.com offers the maximum amount of programming features technically possible along with our outstanding content.
14) I have a show idea. Can I broadcast it on your station?
There are a few hoops to jump through before we are able to discuss a new show idea with you. We are always looking for new, quality original programming. Please contact us under the "Production" tab on our Main Page and follow those instructions.
15) Do I have to become a Member or go through a log-in procedure?
No, however there are some Members Only areas that have special offers, printable coupons and other unique offerings, promotions and giveaways. You must be a signed-in Member to get to those areas. We recommend you sign up, log in to take advantage of those specials, but we won't force you. Like everything else on 2hip4tv.com membership is FREE.
